The College of Physical Education and Sport Sciences at the University of Baghdad organized the Second-Year Football Championship on the college fields, with wide participation from student teams and strong attendance from both students and faculty members.
The tournament was launched under the supervision of the Team Sports Branch, the Student Activities Department, and the scientific committee of the Football course. It aims to promote sportsmanship among students and encourage active involvement in extracurricular activities. The opening match witnessed Section (W) defeating Section (M) with a score of (4–0), showcasing notable skills and a high level of competition.
The organizers noted that the championship includes twelve participating teams, with matches scheduled according to a pre-prepared timetable. Many students expressed their enthusiasm for participating and highlighted the positive and energetic atmosphere of the tournament.
The matches also featured the use of VAR technology to review refereeing decisions, which helped enhance fairness and transparency. Its implementation was well-received by both participating teams and the audience.
This activity supports SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being and SDG 4: Quality Education, by encouraging physical activity and enriching university life through structured extracurricular programs.
